Rachel Azbell
Teaching
Rachel Azbell is a passionate music educator with a diverse range of teaching experiences. She has taught private lessons, masterclasses, summer camps, and school assemblies to students of all ages.
While experienced in teaching all genres of singing, Rachel specializes in commercial singing styles. Rachel is also in demand as a clinician, most recently presenting at the 2023 OMEA conference with her session, "Helping Middle and High School Vocalists Find Their Solo Jazz Voice."
University Experience
Rachel’s university teaching experience is extensive. At Otterbein University, she served as a commercial voice instructor, maintaining a private lesson studio and directing the pop ensemble, "The Anticipations".
Additionally, she was on faculty in the jazz studies program at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, further solidifying her expertise as a vocal pedagogue. She has also taught at the University of North Texas, where she was a teaching fellow, instructing private lessons and jazz studies courses while performing with the distinguished UNT Jazz Singers.
Her work with the Jazz Arts Group of Columbus showcases her dedication to music education beyond the university setting. As the Education Program Manager, Rachel managed several key initiatives, including the Columbus Youth Jazz (CYJ) Program and the CYJ Girls Project.
She also created the innovative 'Vocal Lab' and 'Adult Vocal Workshop' programs, fostering a renewed sense of community and educational opportunities for vocalists of all ages.

Rachel is currently available for private voice lessons, both in person and virtually. Her lessons cover a variety of topics, including vocal technique, improvisation, vocal style and delivery, band leading, and stage presence.
